Children cannot think, learn, or develop until they can be calm. Children are at risk when parents cannot calm themselves. Our brain's first reaction to anything that causes tension, distress, or anxiety is fight, flight or freeze. Therefore, it is imperative that parents and children are surrounded with people who have mastered the skills and habits of being calm – and are prepared to provide training and coaching. This session covers how the brain works and some basic strategies for teaching parents and young children how to calm themselves
