Carrie Carter’s struggle with substance abuse led to her children landing in foster care, and the presiding Judge in her case telling her she would never get her children back. Over four years, social worker Jason Almerico used child welfare practices to build a case that led the Judge to allow Carrie to be reunited with her 6 year old son and, 9 months later, her 17 year old son. Jason and Carrie will present their shared experience working together in the child welfare system to achieve the outcome of reunification
