More than 50% of Iowans report at least one adverse childhood experience. Given this widespread experience of trauma, agencies across Iowa are working to address trauma in their own communities. This session will share lessons learned and tools developed during the Building a Resilient Iowa Workshop in order to aid in the sharing of ideas and resources essential for agencies to develop their own trauma-informed programs.

Child Mental Health Collaboration

Presented by members of each of the three Children’s Wellbeing Collaboratives, this session will share processes and outcomes of the effort. The goal of the Collaborative is to bring a broad cross-section of entities together in a geographically defined area to cooperate in their efforts to build and improve the effectiveness of prevention and early intervention services. The prevention efforts are focused on measurably improving short-term and long-term mental health and well-being outcomes for children and families by using sound public health principles of prevention and population health
